The Tennessee Titans and Verizon have announced they are partnering to verify guest identities this NFL season at Nissan Stadium by using facial authentication technology.
The move comes after Verizon recently added dozens of 5G Ultra Wideband cell sites at Nissan Stadium, which the company said “will provide enhanced wireless performance to customers in the stands starting at regular season games and events this year.”
“Fan experience is at the heart of everything we do at Nissan Stadium, and excellent cellular service is a huge part of that,” Adam Nuse, Titans chief revenue officer, said in a statement. “We are proud to partner alongside Verizon to ensure guests can enjoy every game and event with the assurance of a solid network.”
Verizon’s partnership with the Titans to provide facial recognition technology is part of the company’s broader Verizon Business Connected Venue approach, which is rooted in its 5G investment in more than 75 large public venues in the U.S.
“Partnering with the Tennessee Titans in Music City is music to our ears,” Leigh Anne Lanier, Atlantic South Market President for Verizon added in a statement. “With Verizon’s fast and reliable 5G network solutions, we’ll continue to bolster the experience for fans in the stadium and throughout the Nashville area, as well as provide dependable on-field coach to coach communications for teams on game day.”
The new verification technology uses facial authentication software to “identify a person using an image of a person’s face before granting facility access or ticket redemption,” according to Biometrics Research Group, Inc.
The technology, Verizon notes, is meant to improve event security by keeping crowd flow safe while reducing congestion and staffing costs by automating check-ins.
The Titans’ first home game of the regular season is scheduled for September 17 at noon against the Los Angeles Chargers.

If you’re a patriot, DO NOT GO TO THE GAMES!
Facial Recognition and License Plate Readers coming to a city near you. Don’t worry though, as long as you don’t go to the wrong political party meeting… I mean, as long as you do nothing wrong, you have nothing to hide
